Zengo is a self-custodial crypto wallet for iOS and Android from ZenGo Ltd. It uses MPC (multi-party computation) instead of a seed phrase and supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, Dogecoin, Tron and Tezos plus Polygon, Arbitrum One, Optimism and Base. Extra features need the paid Zengo Pro subscription.

2 min read

Most self-custody wallets give you a 12- or 24-word seed phrase to write down. Zengo takes a different approach: there is no seed phrase at all.

How Zengo’s MPC model works

Zengo uses multi-party computation (MPC). Signing a transaction is split between your device and Zengo’s server, so neither side ever sees the other’s secret. Zengo describes the wallet as non-custodial: Zengo alone cannot move your funds. Recovery uses a three-factor (3FA) model that lets you restore the wallet on a new phone.

The trade-off is that you rely on Zengo’s recovery system instead of a phrase only you hold, so set up every recovery factor carefully when you create the wallet.

Supported networks

According to the store listing: Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, Dogecoin, Tron and Tezos, plus the Polygon, Arbitrum One, Optimism and Base networks, and hundreds of tokens on them.

Free and Pro features

The wallet itself is free. Zengo Pro is a paid subscription that adds multiple wallets, a Legacy Transfer feature for beneficiaries, theft protection tied to biometrics and a Web3 firewall that warns about unusual approvals. Check the current price in the app before subscribing.

Download safely

Protect your recovery factors

Even without a seed phrase, scammers go after the accounts and devices behind your recovery factors. Zengo support will never ask for your recovery details or verification codes; never share them. If you prefer a classic wallet with a seed phrase you hold yourself, see Trust Wallet.

Pros

  • No seed phrase to lose
  • Recovery on a new phone through 3FA
  • Simple mobile interface

Cons

  • Relies on Zengo's server for signing and recovery
  • Some security features require a paid subscription
  • Fewer networks than multi-chain wallets
