Wasabi Wallet is a free, open-source (MIT) Bitcoin wallet for Windows, macOS and Linux focused on privacy. It routes traffic through Tor, syncs with compact block filters and supports hardware wallets through HWI. There is no mobile version.
Wasabi is a desktop Bitcoin wallet built around privacy. It tries to keep observers from linking your addresses and transactions together, while leaving you in full control of your keys.
Privacy features
- Tor everywhere: All Wasabi traffic goes through the Tor network.
- Private sync: Wasabi uses compact block filters, downloading only the blocks relevant to your wallet instead of asking a server about your addresses.
- Multi-party transactions: Wasabi supports the WabiSabi protocol for collaborative transactions. These now run through third-party coordination service providers, which you choose yourself.
- Labels and coin control: Track who knows about which coins and pick the coins for each payment.
Wasabi is self-custodial: you hold the keys, so back up your recovery words carefully.
Hardware wallets
Through HWI, Wasabi works with hardware wallets including Trezor, Coldcard, Ledger, Blockstream Jade and BitBox02.
Platforms and download
Wasabi runs on Windows, macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon) and Linux (.deb and AppImage). The project states that Wasabi is not available on mobile, so any “Wasabi” app in a phone store is not from the developers.
The Download button opens wasabiwallet.io. Each installer has a matching .asc signature file; verify it before installing.
Never share your recovery words
Privacy tools attract impersonators. Never give your recovery words or wallet password to anyone, including people claiming to be Wasabi developers or coordinators; they will never ask for them. For a more general desktop Bitcoin wallet, see Electrum.
Pros
- All traffic routed through Tor
- Private sync without revealing your addresses to a server
- Hardware wallet support via HWI
Cons
- Bitcoin only
- No mobile app
- Collaborative transactions depend on a third-party coordinator
