BlueWallet is a free, open-source (MIT) self-custody Bitcoin wallet from BlueWallet Services, S.R.L. It runs on iOS, Android and macOS and supports watch-only wallets, multisig vaults and PSBT-compatible hardware wallets such as Coldcard, Passport, Jade and Keystone.
BlueWallet is a Bitcoin wallet for your phone that stays simple for daily payments but has plenty of tools under the surface for people who want more control.
Main features
- Self-custody: Private keys are created and kept on your device.
- Watch-only wallets: Follow a cold-storage wallet using only its public key.
- Hardware wallet signing: Build a payment on your phone, sign it on a Coldcard, Passport, Jade, Keystone or other PSBT-compatible device, then broadcast it.
- Multisig Vaults: Require more than one key to spend.
- Fee control: Speed up or cancel a pending payment with Replace-By-Fee, and choose exactly which coins pay.
- Plausible deniability: A second password can open a decoy storage.
Platforms
BlueWallet is available for iPhone, Android and macOS. The developers state there is no official Windows or Linux build. A BlueWallet Portfolio extension for Chrome is watch-only.
Install it from the official sources
The Download button opens bluewallet.io/download, which lists the only official sources: the App Store, Google Play, the Chrome Web Store and BlueWallet’s GitHub releases. In the stores, the publisher is BlueWallet Services, S.R.L.
Your recovery phrase stays with you
Write the recovery phrase on paper when you create a wallet. Never share it or paste it into a website, and remember that BlueWallet support will never ask for it. If you are looking for a desktop companion, Sparrow Wallet works with the same kind of hardware wallets.
Pros
- Open source and self-custodial
