Ledger Wallet (formerly Ledger Live) is the free companion app for Ledger hardware wallets, made by Ledger SAS. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android; its source code is published on GitHub under the MIT licence.
If you own a Ledger device (Nano, Flex or Stax, for example), Ledger Wallet is the official app you use with it. Ledger renamed the app from Ledger Live to Ledger Wallet; it is the same companion software.
How it fits with your Ledger device
The private keys stay inside the Ledger hardware wallet. The app shows balances and prepares transactions, but you verify and approve each transaction on the device itself. This is still self-custody: Ledger does not hold your coins.

- dApps: You can connect to decentralized apps directly or via WalletConnect while signing on the device.

Avoiding fake Ledger apps
Fake “Ledger” apps and phishing emails are a well-known scam. Only download from ledger.com (the Download button) or the store links on this page, and check that the publisher is Ledger SAS (App Store) or Ledger (Google Play).
The 24 words never leave paper
Your Ledger recovery phrase should never be typed into a computer, phone app or website. Ledger support will never ask for it, and no genuine update or “verification” requires it. Anyone asking is a scammer. For a different hardware wallet ecosystem, see Trezor Suite.
