The Blockstream app (formerly Blockstream Green) is a free, open-source (GPL-3.0) self-custodial Bitcoin wallet from Blockstream. It handles on-chain bitcoin, Lightning and Liquid on iOS, Android, Windows, macOS and Linux, and pairs with Blockstream Jade and other hardware wallets.
Blockstream’s wallet app, long known as Blockstream Green, is now simply called the Blockstream app. It is a Bitcoin-focused wallet that covers three layers in one place: on-chain bitcoin, Lightning payments and the Liquid sidechain.
What it does
- Three layers: Hold on-chain bitcoin, pay over Lightning and use Liquid for faster, confidential transfers, with swaps between them inside the app.
- Self-custodial: You hold the keys. The app lets you start with a PIN and save your recovery phrase when you are ready, but until you do, losing the device can mean losing the wallet.
- Hardware wallets: Works with Blockstream Jade, and also supports Ledger, Trezor, Coldcard and others through direct pairing or watch-only import.
- Privacy options: Connect through Tor or route traffic through your own Bitcoin node.
- Open source: The Android and iOS app code is published on GitHub under GPL-3.0.

The Download button opens blockstream.com/app, which links to every official build. In app stores, look for the publisher Blockstream Corporation (App Store) or Blockstream Inc (Google Play); the store listing is titled “Blockstream Bitcoin Wallet”.
Do not delay your backup

Is the Blockstream app the same as Blockstream Green?
Yes. The Blockstream app is the current name of the wallet previously known as Blockstream Green; its source code still lives in the green_android and green_ios repositories.
Do I need a Blockstream Jade to use the app?
No. You can use it as a software wallet on your phone or computer, and add Jade or another hardware wallet later.
