Microsoft Teams is Microsoft's chat, meetings and collaboration app. Desktop apps run on Windows 10 (build 19041 or later) and the three most recent macOS versions; mobile apps cover Android and iOS, and Linux uses Teams on the web or as a PWA.
Microsoft Teams combines chat, video meetings, calls and shared files in one app. Many workplaces and schools get it with Microsoft 365, and individuals can use it with a personal Microsoft account.
Where you can install Teams
- Windows: Windows 10 version 10.0.19041 or later. The desktop app does not support any Windows LTSC edition.
- macOS: one of the three most recent macOS versions.
- Android and iOS: the Teams app for phones and tablets; Microsoft supports the last four major Android versions and the two most recent major iOS versions.
- Linux: there is no current native desktop app; Microsoft directs Linux users to Teams on the web or Teams as a progressive web app (PWA).
- Web: recent versions of Edge, Chrome and Firefox, and Safari on macOS.
Hardware for the desktop app
Microsoft lists a minimum of a dual-core 1.1 GHz processor, 4 GB of RAM and 3 GB of free disk space on Windows (1.5 GB on macOS). For large meetings with ten or more people, Microsoft recommends a four-core processor from 2018 or newer.
