Evernote Web Clipper is the official Chrome extension of Evernote Corporation. It saves web pages, articles, PDFs and screenshots into an Evernote account; the free Evernote plan allows 50 notes, one notebook and one device.

2 min read

Bookmarks only save a link, and pages change or disappear. Evernote Web Clipper saves the content itself into your Evernote account, so an article or recipe stays readable even if the original goes away.

Ways to clip

  • Whole pages or articles: save the full page or just the article, without ads and sidebars.
  • PDFs: clip PDFs you open in the browser.
  • Screenshots: capture a full page or just a part of it.
  • Annotations: add highlights, text and other marks to a screenshot before saving.
  • Bookmarks with context: save a page’s URL, image and description to a notebook.

Keeping clips organized

Each clip can get a title, tags and a target notebook, so research, photos and ideas are easy to find later by keyword.

Install and sign in

  1. The Download button opens Evernote Web Clipper on the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Click Add to Chrome and sign in to your Evernote account.
  3. Click the elephant icon on any page and pick the clip type.

Know the free plan’s limits

Evernote’s plan comparison lists the Free plan at 50 notes, one notebook and sync on one device. Starter and Advanced plans raise those limits, and paid trials usually last 7 days. If you clip a lot, the free plan will fill quickly. Free alternatives include Notion Web Clipper and open-source note apps such as Joplin, which has its own clipper.

Data

According to the store listing, the extension handles authentication information so it can save to your account.

Pros
