SuiteCRM is an open-source CRM developed by SalesAgility and released under the GNU AGPLv3. SuiteCRM 8.10 runs on Linux, Unix or macOS servers with PHP 8.2 to 8.4, Apache 2.4 and MariaDB or MySQL.
SuiteCRM is for organisations that want a full CRM without a per-user subscription and with their customer data on their own server. It is open source, so there is no licence fee for the software itself; you pay only for hosting or optional support.
What SuiteCRM includes
- Sales: Accounts, contacts, leads, opportunities, quotes and contracts.
- Marketing: Campaigns, email marketing and web-to-lead forms.
- Service: Cases and a customer self-service portal.
- Workflow and reports: Automate routine steps and build reports without coding.
Server requirements (SuiteCRM 8.10)
The official compatibility matrix lists:
- Operating system: Linux, Unix or macOS
- PHP: 8.2, 8.3 or 8.4
- Web server: Apache 2.4
- Database: MariaDB 10.6, 10.11, 11.4 or 11.8, or MySQL 8.0 or 8.4
Node.js, Angular CLI and Yarn are only needed if you develop the front end; a production install does not require them.
Download and install
- The Download button opens suitecrm.com/download, where the SuiteCRM 8.10 package is offered as a zip file. The older 7.x line is also listed for existing installations.
- Upload and extract the package on your server, point the web server at it and create an empty database.
- Open the site in a browser and follow the installer, which checks your PHP setup.
SalesAgility also sells hosted SuiteCRM, upgrade services and a supported build called SuiteASSURED for companies that do not want to run the server themselves. A Linux server such as Ubuntu or Debian is the usual base; for a quick local test, XAMPP provides Apache, PHP and MariaDB.
Pros
- No licence fee
- Data stays on your own server
- Sales, marketing and service modules included
Cons
- You manage the server, updates and backups
- Windows servers are not on the supported list
