Salesforce is a commercial cloud CRM platform from salesforce.com. The Salesforce mobile app is free to install, but it needs a Salesforce account from a paid subscription or trial.
Salesforce is used by sales, service and operations teams that live inside one shared CRM. The official Salesforce mobile app is how those users reach their records from a phone or tablet, with the same data and permissions they have in the browser.
What you can do in the app
- Mobile Home: A personalised set of cards shows favourite reports, list views, tasks and events when you open the app.
- Records anywhere: View and update accounts, contacts, opportunities and cases across the Salesforce clouds your company uses.
- Lightning apps: Mobile-optimised Lightning components and apps built by your admin appear in the app.
- Notifications: Custom push notifications, configured through Notification Builder, tell you when important data changes.
How to install
- Install Salesforce from the App Store or Google Play (links on this page). Make sure it is published by salesforce.com.
- Open it and sign in with your Salesforce username and password, or with your company’s single sign-on if it uses one.
- Approve any security steps your organisation requires, such as Salesforce Authenticator or another verification method.
What you need to know
The app is free, but Salesforce itself is a paid service: you need a user licence from your company’s subscription or a trial account. What you see in the app (tabs, actions, record layouts) is set by your Salesforce administrator, and some companies add extra mobile security policies. The current iOS version needs iOS 18 or later.
Field technicians usually need the separate Salesforce Field Service app instead. For a CRM that does not require a subscription, Zoho CRM has a free edition for small teams.
Pros
- Same records and permissions as the web version
- Admin-built Lightning apps work on mobile
- Configurable push notifications
Cons
- Requires a paid Salesforce licence or trial
- Features depend on how your admin set it up

Why does my Salesforce app look different from a colleague's?
Navigation, actions and layouts are configured by each organisation's Salesforce administrator and depend on your user profile.
