Prime Video App: Download It and Watch on Your Phone

Prime Video is Amazon’s streaming service, and the phone app gives you films, series and live sports wherever you are. Installing the app costs nothing, but you need an eligible Amazon subscription to watch most of what is in it. Individual titles may also be offered to rent or buy.

What to expect

• Originals and films: Amazon’s own series plus licensed movies and shows, which vary by country.
• Live content: Some regions include live sports and events.
• Personal watchlist: Save titles to come back to, and pick up where you stopped on another device.
• Downloads: Eligible titles can be saved to your phone and watched offline.

Getting started

1. Install Amazon Prime Video from Google Play or the App Store.
2. Sign in with your Amazon account. If you have no subscription, the app explains the plans and any free trial offered where you live.
3. Check Settings (the gear icon on the profile screen) to set streaming and download quality so you do not burn through mobile data.

Good to know

Prime Video titles available to you, prices and ads depend on your country and plan, and Amazon’s pages describe the current terms. Profile settings let you set up separate profiles for children. If you also read on your phone, the Kindle app uses the same Amazon account, and Netflix is the obvious alternative to compare.

Because the app handles your Amazon login and payment details, install it only from the official stores and turn on two-step verification on your Amazon account.
