Exodus is a free, self-custodial cryptocurrency wallet made by Exodus Movement, Inc. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android and can be paired with Trezor and Ledger hardware wallets.
Exodus is a multi-asset wallet with a polished interface, built for people who want to hold Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and many other assets in one place without handing their keys to an exchange.
Custodial or non-custodial?
Exodus is self-custodial (non-custodial). Your private keys are created and stored on your own device, and you back them up with a secret recovery phrase. With a custodial service such as an exchange account, the company holds the keys for you. Self-custody means no company can freeze your wallet, but it also means nobody can restore it if you lose the phrase.
Platforms and supported assets
- Desktop: Windows (64-bit), macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Linux (.deb and .zip).
- Mobile: iPhone and Android.
- Assets: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, stablecoins and many more networks; Exodus keeps a live list of supported assets on its website.
- Hardware wallets: Exodus can be paired with a Trezor (desktop and mobile) or a Ledger (mobile).
Downloading Exodus safely
- The Download button opens the official download page on exodus.com, which also publishes release hashes.
- On a phone, use the App Store or Google Play links on this page and check that the publisher is Exodus Movement, Inc.
- Write your recovery phrase on paper and keep it offline.
Protect your recovery phrase
Fake wallet apps and “support agents” on social media are common. Never type your recovery phrase into a website, a chat or a form, and never share it with anyone: Exodus support will never ask for it. Anyone who has the phrase has your funds. If you mainly hold Bitcoin and prefer open-source software, see Electrum.
Pros
- Same wallet on desktop and mobile
- Works with Trezor and Ledger hardware wallets
- Supports a wide range of networks
Cons
- Many built-in trading and payment features beyond the basic wallet
- Lost recovery phrase means lost funds
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Exodus with a hardware wallet?
Yes. Exodus can be paired with a Trezor on desktop and mobile, and with a Ledger on mobile.
Can Exodus support recover my wallet if I lose my phrase?
No. Exodus is self-custodial, so only your recovery phrase can restore the wallet. Exodus users are responsible for storing it themselves.
