Dolibarr is a free, open-source ERP and CRM for small and medium businesses, released under the GNU GPLv3. It runs on a PHP web server with MySQL 5.7.7+, MariaDB 10.3+ or PostgreSQL 9.1+.
Dolibarr is a lightweight ERP and CRM: you switch on only the modules you need, such as third parties (customers and suppliers), proposals, orders, invoices, stock, projects or HR. That makes it a practical option for a small company or association that wants its records in one place.
Where to download
The official download page points to:
- Stable versions hosted on SourceForge, intended for production use on all operating systems.
- Git source on GitHub, for deploying and updating a specific major version.
- Development snapshot of the develop branch, which is not stable and not meant for production.
Extra modules and themes are available from Dolistore, Dolibarr’s marketplace; some are free and some are paid.
Server requirements
According to the Dolibarr wiki:
- Web server: any server with PHP, such as Apache, Nginx, Lighttpd or IIS.
- PHP: session support enabled and a memory limit of at least 128 MB.
- Database: MySQL 5.7.7 or later, MariaDB 10.3 or later, or PostgreSQL 9.1.0 or later.
- Disk: about 150 MB for program files and about 35 MB for the database, plus room for attachments and generated PDFs.
- CPU: modest; the wiki recommends at least 1 GHz for more than 30 users.
The wiki notes that a Windows server works but advises avoiding it for better performance.
Installing
Extract the package into your web server folder, create a database, then open the site in a browser and follow the install wizard. For a local trial on a PC, XAMPP or Laragon provides the web server, PHP and database in one package.
For a broader ERP with manufacturing and HR, compare ERPNext and Odoo.
Pros
- Modular: enable only what you need
- Light server requirements
- Runs with MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL
Cons
- Interface is plainer than commercial tools
- Some useful modules on Dolistore are paid
