WPS Office is an office suite from Kingsoft Office Software with Writer, Spreadsheet, Presentation and PDF tools in one app. The core apps are free; some advanced features are part of a paid premium plan.

The four tools
- Writer: Opens and saves .docx files and older .doc documents.

- PDF: Reads PDFs and offers conversion, merging, splitting and compression tools.
WPS states that its apps are compatible with Microsoft Office formats, which matters when colleagues send you files made in Word or Excel. Complex documents with unusual layouts are still worth checking before you send them back.
Download and setup
- The Download button opens the official WPS download page.
- Pick your platform: Windows, Mac (Apple Silicon or Intel) or Linux (.deb and .rpm packages). Mobile apps are available for Android, iPhone and iPad.
- Run the installer. Signing in with a WPS account is optional for local editing but needed for WPS cloud features.
Free and premium
