ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors: Free Open-Source Office Apps

ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors is an offline office suite with a modern tabbed interface. It uses the Microsoft Office formats (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx) as its native formats, which helps when you trade files with people using Word or Excel.

What is in the package

• Document editor for letters, reports and contracts.
• Spreadsheet editor with formulas, charts and pivot tables.

• PDF editor for reading, annotating and filling in PDF forms.

All four open as tabs in a single window. The desktop editors work without an account or internet connection; connecting to an ONLYOFFICE cloud or server is optional.

Picking the right download

1. The Download button opens the official desktop download page on onlyoffice.com.
2. Windows: Choose the x64 installer for most PCs, ARM64 for Windows on ARM laptops, or x86 for old 32-bit systems. There are also builds for Windows XP and Vista and a Microsoft Store version.
3. macOS: Pick the Apple chip or Intel build; macOS 10.13 or later is supported, with a separate build for 10.12 and earlier.
4. Linux: .deb and .rpm packages, Snap, Flatpak and AppImage are offered.

The installers are fairly large (roughly 250 to 340 MB), so allow some time on a slow connection.

License

The desktop editors are open source under the AGPLv3, with the source code on GitHub, and they cost nothing. The mobile apps for Android and iOS are separate, proprietary products.
