Toggl Track is a time-tracking service from Toggl OÜ. Official apps are available for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS, plus browser extensions; the free plan covers up to three users.

2 min read

Toggl Track is built around one big start/stop button: press it when you begin a task, press it again when you stop, and your hours are logged against a project and client. It suits freelancers who bill by the hour and teams that need timesheets.

Official apps

  • Windows and Mac: native desktop apps for tracking time and tasks.
  • Android and iPhone: the Toggl Track mobile app for tracking time on the move; the iOS version needs iOS 17.6 or later.
  • Browser extensions: add a timer button to many web tools.
  • Web: reports and settings are always available in the browser.

Entries sync between all of them, so you can start a timer on your phone and stop it on your PC.

Features

  • One-click timers and manual time entries
  • Projects, clients and tags for organising hours
  • Reports showing where time went, exportable for invoicing

Getting started

  1. Use the Download button for Toggl’s desktop app page, or tap a store link on this page for mobile.
  2. Sign up or sign in.
  3. Create your projects and clients, then start your first timer.

Plans

The Free plan allows up to three users. Paid plans are Starter, Premium and Enterprise, with add-ons for time-off and capacity management. Toggl offers a free 30-day trial of all features.

Note that Toggl also publishes a separate app called Toggl: Track Time & Plan Work; for classic time tracking, choose Toggl Track. If you need unlimited tracking for a larger team on a free plan, compare Clockify.

Pros

  • Very simple one-click timer
  • Syncs across desktop, mobile and browser
  • Free 30-day trial of all features

Cons
