Postman is an API platform with desktop apps for Windows, macOS and Linux, a web version and the Postman CLI. The Free plan is for one user; paid Solo, Team and Enterprise plans add collaboration and more credits.
Modern websites talk to APIs: payment providers, headless CMS backends, analytics, and your own endpoints. Postman lets developers send those requests by hand, save them in collections and run automated tests.
What you can do with Postman
- Send any HTTP request with headers, authentication and a request body, then inspect the response.
- Organise collections of requests per project.
- Automated API testing with the Collection Runner.
- Monitoring that checks an API on a schedule.
- Postman CLI for running collections from the command line or CI, installed with
npm install -g postman-cli.
Downloading the desktop app
- The Download button opens the official Postman downloads page.
- Choose Windows, macOS (Intel or Apple Silicon) or Linux (x64 or ARM64).
- Sign in or create a Postman account. The web version also requires a free account.
Free plan limits
According to the pricing page, the Free plan is for one user and includes the Collection Runner, up to five integrations, 1,000 API monitoring requests and 10,000 Postman API calls per month. Paid plans are Solo ($9 per month, billed annually), Team ($19 per user per month, billed annually) and Enterprise (contact sales).
If you want an open-source client that stores collections as plain files, see Bruno. For viewing JSON responses in the browser, the JSON Formatter extension helps.
