Bluebeam Revu is paid PDF markup, measurement and collaboration software for architecture, engineering and construction, from Bluebeam. A free trial is available; plans run from Basics at $260 to Max at $590 per user per year.

2 min read

On many construction projects, drawings are reviewed, marked up and measured as PDFs rather than in CAD. Bluebeam Revu is built for that work: it lets architects, engineers and contractors comment on drawings, measure quantities and collaborate on the same set of documents.

What Revu does

  • PDF creation, viewing and editing with construction-oriented markups.
  • Measurements: lengths, areas, perimeters, counts, angles and volumes for takeoff (depending on plan).
  • Overlay and compare to spot changes between drawing revisions.
  • Studio collaboration: hosted sessions where several people mark up the same documents.
  • CAD plug-ins to create PDFs from design programs.

Plans

Every plan includes Bluebeam Revu for Windows desktop plus Bluebeam on web and mobile. US prices per user, billed annually:

  • Basics ($260): PDF creation, viewing, editing and markups.
  • Core ($330): adds specialty 2D and 3D markups, advanced measurements, overlay and compare, and hosting Studio sessions.
  • Complete ($440): adds Dynamic Fill, Quantity Link with Excel, advanced markup reporting and batch automation.
  • Max ($590, introductory): adds AI drawing review and comparison tools.

How to try it

  2. Follow the trial sign-up steps, then download and install Revu for Windows.

Revu itself is a Windows desktop application; on Mac, Bluebeam’s web and mobile apps are available.

For model-based coordination rather than PDF review, see Navisworks. Teams scheduling the same project often use Microsoft Project.

Pros

  • Markups and measurements designed for construction drawings
  • Studio sessions for team review
  • Web and mobile access included

Cons

  • Annual subscription per user
  • Desktop app is Windows only
