Awesome Screen Recorder & Screenshot is a Chrome extension from Awesome Screenshot that captures screenshots (full page, area or visible part) and records the screen, tab or camera, with annotation and sharing tools.

2 min read

Reporting a bug, writing a how-to or giving design feedback all go faster with a picture or a short video. Awesome Screenshot combines both in one Chrome extension.

Screenshots

  • Capture modes: Full page, a selected area or the visible part of a page; also the entire screen or a single app window, optionally after a delay.
  • Annotation: Crop and resize, draw rectangles, circles, arrows and lines, add text, highlight areas and blur sensitive information.
  • Export and share: Save as PNG, JPG or PDF, copy to the clipboard, or upload to your Awesome Screenshot account for a shareable link.

Screen recording

  • Record your desktop (whole screen or a window), the current tab or just your camera.
  • Add your voice with the microphone and your face with an embedded webcam bubble.
  • Choose 720p, 1080p or 4K and save as WebM or MP4.
  • Save locally, or to your online account for an instant share link.
  • Annotate while recording and edit afterwards.

Recordings and screenshots can be sent to Jira, Slack, Trello, Asana and GitHub.

Installing it

  1. Click Download to open the extension on the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Add it to Chrome and pin the icon.
  3. Click it and choose Capture or Record.

Cloud saving and share links use an Awesome Screenshot account, so check its plans on awesomescreenshot.com. For simple full-page captures, GoFullPage is a lighter option; on the desktop, ShareX and Greenshot are free alternatives.

  • Annotation with blur and highlight
  • Integrations with Jira, Slack and more

Cons
