Truecaller Download: Caller ID and Spam Call Blocker

An unknown number is calling. Is it the courier, the bank or another sales call? Truecaller tries to answer that before you pick up, by showing a name and a spam warning for numbers that aren’t in your contacts.

What does Truecaller do?

• Caller ID: See a name for many unknown numbers when they call.
• Spam blocking: Calls that many users have reported as spam can be flagged or blocked automatically.
• Number search: Look up a number to see who it belongs to before calling back.
• SMS filtering: On Android, sort messages and keep spam out of your inbox.
• Premium: A paid plan with extra features such as ad-free use and advanced blocking.

Setting it up

1. Get Truecaller from Google Play or the App Store.
2. Verify your phone number and create a profile.
3. Follow the prompts to grant the permissions the app needs, such as setting it as your caller ID app on Android or turning on its call blocking extension in the iPhone settings.

Good to know

What Truecaller can do depends on your phone: Android allows deeper integration with calls and messages, while iPhone limits some features, and parts of them need Premium. The app asks for access to your contacts and call history; read the permissions and the privacy settings, where you can also choose what others see about you.
