How Koinly works

1. Create an account at koinly.io and choose your country and tax settings.
2. Connect exchanges with read-only API keys, add wallet addresses, or upload CSV exports.
3. Review flagged transactions, such as transfers between your own wallets that need matching.
4. Generate the report format used in your country.

Koinly runs in the browser; there is no desktop program to install.

Free plan and pricing

Koinly lets you import data and review your results for free. Downloading a tax report requires a paid plan, which is charged per tax year and depends on the number of transactions. Check the current prices on the official pricing page.

Safety and accuracy

• Use read-only API keys and public wallet addresses. Koinly never needs your recovery phrase.
• Software can misclassify transactions, especially DeFi activity. Check the results, and ask a qualified tax professional if your situation is complicated.
• Tax rules differ by country and change; Koinly lists the countries it supports on its site.
• Keep your own exports from each exchange as well. Exchanges can close or limit access to old records.
