Enscape is a paid real-time rendering plugin from Chaos for Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Archicad and Vectorworks. It offers a 14-day free trial, annual subscriptions, and a Mac version for Archicad, Rhino, SketchUp and Vectorworks.

2 min read

Enscape does not ask you to export your model anywhere. It opens a live rendered window next to your design tool, and every change you make in the model appears in the render straight away. That makes it popular for design reviews, where architects walk clients through a building that is still changing.

Supported design tools

Enscape works as a plugin for Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Archicad and Vectorworks. On macOS, Enscape for Mac supports Archicad, Rhino, SketchUp and Vectorworks; Revit itself is a Windows program, so Enscape for Revit is Windows only.

What you can do with it

  • Walk, fly or use perspective modes through the fully rendered project.
  • Export still images, 360° panoramas and video paths.
  • Use the built-in asset library of furniture, vegetation and people.
  • Synchronize views between Enscape and your design tool.

Trial and pricing

  1. The Download button opens Enscape’s page on chaos.com, where you start the trial.
  2. The free trial lasts 14 days and includes training resources and support.
  3. After that, Enscape is sold as annual named-user subscriptions: Enscape Solo, Enscape Premium and Enscape Collection. Higher tiers add more assets and Chaos credits for the AI tools.

Choosing between Chaos renderers

Chaos makes several renderers. Enscape is the real-time option for architects working inside BIM tools. For photorealistic stills and animation where render time matters less, V-Ray and Corona go further. If you prefer a standalone free option, Twinmotion is worth a look.

Pros

  • Live rendering inside the design tool
  • Supports five major CAD and BIM platforms
  • 14-day trial with full features

Cons

  • Subscription only after the trial
  • Revit support is Windows only
