Voicemeeter is a virtual audio mixer for Windows from VB-Audio, distributed as donationware: free to use with all functions available. It runs on Windows XP to Windows 11, 32-bit, 64-bit and ARM64.
Streamers, podcasters and people on frequent video calls often want to combine several sound sources and control where each one goes. Voicemeeter does this in software, acting like a small mixing console on your PC.
How it works
Voicemeeter installs a virtual audio device. Windows and your programs can use it as their main audio device, and Voicemeeter then mixes everything and sends it on.
- Inputs: 3 inputs, 2 physical (such as a microphone) and 1 virtual (sound from your programs).
- Outputs: 3 outputs, 2 physical and 1 virtual, routed through 2 buses.
- Interfaces: Supports MME, DirectX, KS, WDM and ASIO.
A typical setup sends your microphone and game sound to a streaming program while you listen to everything on headphones.
Installing Voicemeeter
- The Download button opens the official Voicemeeter page on vb-audio.com.
- Download the setup ZIP (about 22.1 MB) and extract it.
- Run the setup program as administrator.
- Restart Windows after installation. VB-Audio also asks for a restart after uninstalling.
Which edition?
The standard Voicemeeter is the simplest. VB-Audio also offers larger editions, Voicemeeter Banana and Voicemeeter Potato, with more inputs and buses for complex setups. Starting with the standard version is a good way to learn the routing.
