Hearthstone is a free-to-play digital card game from Blizzard Entertainment set in the Warcraft universe. It runs on Windows and macOS through the Battle.net app, and on Android and iOS.
Hearthstone is a turn-based card game in which you build a deck of 30 cards around one of the Warcraft heroes and try to bring your opponent’s health to zero. Matches are short, and the rules are easy to pick up, but deck building and timing give it plenty of depth.
Game modes
- Standard and Wild: Ranked and casual play with your own decks; Standard uses recent sets, Wild allows every card.
- Battlegrounds: An auto-battler mode for eight players where you recruit minions between rounds; no card collection needed.
- Arena: Draft a deck from random cards and see how many wins you can get.
- Solo adventures: Story content you can play against the computer.
Installing through Battle.net
- Start on the official Hearthstone website, which links to the right installer.
- On PC or Mac, install Blizzard’s Battle.net app and sign in with a free Battle.net account.
- Choose Hearthstone in the app and click “Install”. The tutorial introduces the basic rules.
